Pelly’s Festival converts Cowra.
Cowra was converted to a fairground on Saturday 28 November with the “Pelly’s Spring Festival” … the first of it’s kind for the town.
Brougham Park was transformed with slides, rides, games and live entertainment. The kids enjoyed fairy floss and snow cones, plus airbrush tattoos and face painting. A maze of stalls and stands offered everything from cakes to plants. The event included a Child Flight “Chops for Choppers” fundraising barbeque which did a roaring trade all day, as did a big raffle with great prizes kindly donated by a variety of local and corporate donors .“Pelly” was a great hit with the kids and little boys actually got to sit in the Fire Brigade’s trucks and wear a real helmet!
The inspiration for the event came from Brooke Sargent, who wanted to continue her great fundraising efforts for Telstra Child Flight.
Brooke had two of her children ( her daughter Bella and son Jett) successfully retrieved at different times from life- threatening health situations and she has shown her gratitude by becoming a fundraising volunteer for Telstra Child Flight. The festival was her latest contribution. Brooke also raised awareness of our charity with a personal storyboard in the Child Flight Merchandise Marquee, highlighting the story of just what happened to her children and why they needed TCF to save their lives.
Brooke got much assistance from people of Cowra and surrounding towns in the region and together their amazing efforts raised $ 4,000 for TCF.
Since becoming a volunteer in July, Brooke has now raised close to $10,000. Awesome.
